  1. SVC Brose opened a C. L. Elms Post 9951 regular meeting IAW the VFW ritual at 11:00 on this date in the bar area of JUSMAGTHAI located at 7 South Sathorn Road in Bangkok, Thailand.

  2. There was a roll call of officers and all were present or properly excused except Trustee Hudson. There were 16 members attending.

  3. There were two applications for life membership. They are from SSGT Lewis Frazier and Mr. Steven Ficklin. Comrade Arquette moved we accept these applications, JVC Key seconded and the motion carried. We then warmly welcome these Comrades into our Post.

  4. We gave copies of the minutes of the last meeting to those in attendance. Surgeon Rhodes made a motion to approve the minutes, subject to correction, and Comrade Arquette seconded it. The motion carried.

  5. Quartermaster Neutzler gave the QM Report for the period 1 through 30 November 2007. JVC Key moved to approve the report, subject to audit. Comrade Shotwell seconded and the motion carried.

  6. There was one bill presented for collection. Comrade Petersen asked for reimbursement of 50 baht he had paid for Post photographs. Trustee Nestle motioned that we approve his request, Comrade Riopel seconded and the motion carried.

  7. Service Officer Dyste gave the SO Report.

  8. We advised that CMDR Owens’ father died recently.

  9. Committee reports are: (a) Membership: Our goal for this year is 244. We now have 249 members for 102.05% (b) Bingo: We received $180.86. (c) Buddy Poppies: There were $157.73 in donations. (d) POW/MIA: Comrade Picha is in America. (e) Community Activities: JVC Key gave us an update on what he reported to DPA. (f) Independence Day: There is no news to report. (g) Webmaster: This is something new but we hope to receive a report on this topic most months hereafter. Comrade Petersen advised that the current Web site is almost full and therefore very slow and presents other problems as well. He recommends we get a new site which we must pay for. The previous Webmaster, Comrade Riopel, concurs but cautioned that we should insure that we actually own the site. The QM, therefore, proposed that the Webmaster find a new site, make sure that it will be owned by the Post, and report this to the Membership at the next meeting. We will then vote to approve payment and the CMDR, SVC and JVC will pick a name for the site. Comrade Arquette seconded this and the motion carried. Comrade Petersen agreed to accept this responsibility

  10. Remembrance of our National Home was at 11:50.

  11. Old Business (a) Our Annual Christmas Party is on December 15 at the Tara Hotel on Soi 26, Sukhumvit Road. QM Neutzler has the lead in organizing the event. Put this on your calendars. Tickets can be bought from the QM or the RAO. The price of tickets is 1,000 baht each. (b) We are still looking for a replacement for the SO as his age precludes him from being both the Post SO and the RAO. Please volunteer for this vital responsibility. (c) Trustee Nicholls has set up a visit to the Prostheses Hospital so we can make a donation of 20,000 baht. The visit will be on December 13 and is part of our Christmas activities. Transportation will leave from JMAG at 9:30. (d) There was a spirited discussion of the need to have an American flag available for use when a Comrade dies. The RAO advised the Consular section has long been out of them and we are now five flags in arrears. The QM proposed we buy a flag from the VFW Store to make sure we always have one available. Comrade Shotwell seconded this and the motion carried. (e) The next District V Meeting will be on January 19 in Udon Thani. We decided to pick a Post Delegate and Alternate, if needed, at the January meeting. SVC Brose agreed to tell all concerned where the Convention will be held.

  12. New Business: The SO at the Pattaya Post has resigned citing work overload as a reason. However, he remains available for survivor assistance and will continue as the District SO.

  13. Good of the Order: (a) Surgeon Rhodes won the Post Raffle of some cash and a baseball cap. (b) SO Dyste reminded us of the Days of Remembrance which will occur before our next meeting. Trustee Nestle noted Pearl Harbor Day. (c) Space available flights from Bangkok remain terminated.
