February 10, 2007

 

1.      CDR Oden opened a C. L. Elms Post 9951 meeting IAW the VFW ritual at 11:15 on February 10, 2007 in the conference room of JUSMAGTHAI located at 7 South Sathorn Road in Bangkok , Thailand .

2.      There was a roll call of officers and all were present or properly excused. There were 20 members attending.

3.      There was a mailed application for transfer to our Post by life member, Comrade Gerald R. Springer. After some discussion, Comrade Evers motioned we accept him. Trustee Hudson seconded this, the motion carried and we welcomed him, in absentia, into Post 9951.

4.      We gave copies of the minutes of the last meeting to those in attendance.  JVC Key made a motion to approve the minutes, subject to correction, and Advocate Owens seconded it. The motion carried.

5.      Quartermaster Neutzler gave the QM Report for the period 1 through 31 January 2007. Comrade Evers moved to approve the report, subject to audit. Trustee Hudson seconded it and the motion carried.

6.      There was one bill presented for collection. Comrade Picha requested 3,100 baht as reimbursement for expenses connected with the move to the new Post Home. SVC Nestle motioned we approve this, Trustee Riopel seconded it and the motion carried.

7.      Service Officer Dyste gave the SO Report.

8.      There are no Comrades in Distress but we discussed the health issues of some Members.

9.      Committee reports are: (a) Membership: Our goal for this year is 236. We currently stand at 233 members for 98.73 %. (b) Bingo: Nothing received this period. (c) Buddy Poppies: There were no receipts. (d) POW/MIA: Comrade Picha made some interesting comments. (e) Community Activities: There is nothing to report on this topic.  (f)  Independence Day: There is a new chairman of the ID Committee and meetings will start soon. Trustee Hudson will be our representative, assisted as needed by other Post Comrades.

10.  Remembrance of our National Home was at 11:50.

11.  Old Business: (a) CDR Oden and Comrade Picha updated us on the move to the new Post Home and we discussed this issue in detail. (b) We gave 30,000 baht to CDR Oden for the Kaotagrub Pattana School in Sakaeo Province . We also gave him 10,000 baht to be donated to the Prostheses Foundation. We talked at length about the unique contributions Comrade Nicholls could make to the prostheses charity. (c) We are sending a letter and a 1,000 baht check to the student the Post sponsored in the Voice of Democracy Competition. (d) There was a Thai Veterans’ Day ceremony at Victory Monument on February 3. (e) We held a District V meeting in Udon Thani on January 19 and 20 at which nominations were made for District Officers.

12.  New Business: (a) Some National Officers will visit us on March 27. We will have a function of some sort for them but the details are undecided now. (b) We are invited to the Thai Unknown Warriors’ Convention on April 7 but there are no details at this time. (c) There will be a District V Convention in Bangkok on April 21 and 22. Advocate Owens, assisted by Trustee Hudson, will make the necessary arrangements. (d) ANZAC Day will be April 25. Those planning to attend using the Post bus should tell the CDR. (e) there is information on the Department Website about the Department Convention in Angeles City , Philippines . It is not too early to register. (f) We agreed to buy a ½ page color ad for our Post in the Department Convention Book. Comrade Chipp made this motion, Trustee Hudson seconded and it carried. In this regard, everyone is encouraged to sell advertising in the Convention Book since it is a revenue source for our Post.     

13.  Good of the Order: (a) Comrade Worsham won the raffle of a baseball cap and some cash. (b) CDR Oden noted the days of remembrance before our next meeting.

14.  CDR Oden closed the meeting at 12:50 IAW the VFW ritual. The next regular meeting of C.L. Elms Post 9951 will be at 11:00 hours on March 10, 2007 in the JUSMAGTHAI conference room.
