1.      CDR Oden opened a C. L. Elms Post 9951 regular meeting IAW the VFW ritual at 11:05 on May 12, 2007 in the Teak Room of JUSMAGTHAI located at 7 South Sathorn Road in Bangkok , Thailand .

2.      There was a roll call of officers and all were present or properly excused. There were 22 members and one guest attending.

3.      There were two applications for membership transfer to our Post. They are from Comrades James Mellstrom, Member at Large and Comrade Donald Johnson from Hawaii . After some discussion Trustee Hudson motioned that we approve these requests. JVC Key seconded, the motion carried and we warmly welcomed these two new Comrades into our organization.

4.      We gave copies of the minutes of the last meeting to those in attendance. Trustee Hudson made a motion to approve the minutes, subject to correction, and Advocate Owens seconded it. The motion carried.

5.      Quartermaster Neutzler gave the QM Report for the period 1 through 30 April 2007. Comrade Picha moved to approve the report, subject to audit. Advocate Owens seconded it and the motion carried.

6.      There were several bills presented for collection. Comrade Picha requested 150 baht for postage while CDR Oden wanted $466.45 as reimbursement for money he had spent for Buddy Poppies, ANZAC Day expenses and other miscellaneous costs. Finally, Advocate Owens asked for 1,500 baht and $374.77 that he had used in support of the District V Convention. SVC Nestle motioned we approve these, Trustee Riopel seconded this and the motion carried. In this regard, Comrade Rossow returned 400 baht left over from District V Convention expenses.

7.      Service Officer Dyste gave the SO Report.

8.      There are no Comrades in Distress.

9.      Committee reports are: (a) Membership: Our goal for this year is 236. We now stand at 239 members for 101.27 %. (b) Bingo: Monies waiting to be picked up. (c) Buddy Poppies: There were no receipts. (d) POW/MIA: Comrade Picha gave us some of the latest news. (e) Community Activities: There is nothing to report. (f)  Independence Day: The venue for the festivities will be the old embassy grounds. Comrade Hudson updated us on details of the planning. The function will be on June 30 and our Members will sell Hamburgers and beer. The names of the Thai volunteers wanting to work for 500 baht for that day should be given to Comrade Hudson so he can arrange for their admittance. We also need to buy tickets in advance from Comrade Hudson and he will make them available.

10.  Remembrance of our National Home was at 11:50.

11.  Old Business: (a) ANZAC Day was April 25. It was enjoyed by those attending but was expensive. Therefore, we decided that next year Post members who go and their guests will probably have to contribute to the costs of the trip.  (b) There was a District V Convention in Bangkok on April 21 and 22 at the Omni Tower on Sukhumvit, Soi 4. Although sparsely attended, it was well carried out. Advocate Owens, and the Convention Committee, are commended for their work. (c) There is information on the Department Website about the Department Convention in Angeles City , Philippines . It is not too early to register. Everyone is encouraged to sell advertising in the Convention Book since it is a revenue source for our Post. Trustee Hudson will be our Post Delegate and QM Neutzler will be the Alternate.

12.  New Business: (a) SVC Nestle installed the officers for the new VFW Year. The following officers took their respective positions. CDR – Advocate Owens; SVC - Trustee Brose; JVC – JVC Key, QM – QM Neutzler; Chaplain – Comrade Worsham; Advocate – CDR Oden; Surgeon – Surgeon Rhodes; One Year Trustee – Comrade Nicholls. Two Year Trustee – Trustee Hudson, Three Year Trustee - Comrade Vajo. (b) We will pay our annual tribute to those interred in the cemetery on New Road and also at Christ Church on May 27. People wanting to participate should assemble at JUSMAG at 10:00. (c) We expect there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at the embassy on May 30. Details will be provided once available.

13.  Good of the Order: (a) Comrade Keough won the raffle of a baseball cap and some cash. (b) CDR Oden and SO Dyste noted the days of remembrance before our next meeting. (c) Former District Commander Ed Hughes died recently from a heart attack.

14.  CDR Oden closed the meeting at 12:30 IAW the VFW ritual. The next regular meeting of C.L. Elms Post 9951 will be at 11:00 on June 9, 2007 in the JUSMAGTHAI conference room.
