3. There was one application for membership transfer to our Post from life member Comrade Dean Barrett. After some discussion SVC Nestle motioned that we approve the request and Trustee Riopel seconded. The motion carried and we warmly welcomed Comrade Barrett into our organization.
4. We gave copies of the minutes of the last meeting to those in attendance. SVC Nestle made a motion to approve the minutes, subject to correction, and Advocate Owens seconded it. The motion carried.
5. Quartermaster Neutzler gave the QM Report for the period 1 through 31 May 2007. SVC Nestle moved to approve the report, subject to audit. Advocate Owens seconded and the motion carried.
6. There was one bill presented for collection. Comrade Rossow requested 440 baht for expenses associated with the Post Home. Advocate Owens motioned we approve this, Trustee Riopel seconded and the motion carried.
7. Service Officer Dyste gave the SO Report.
8. Comrade Gaines is in BNH Hospital after having suffered a stroke. Also, a family member of Comrade Nicholls died the previous evening.
9. Committee reports are: (a) Membership: Our goal for this year is 236. We now stand at 239 members for 101.27 %. (b) Bingo: There is a little .money waiting to be picked up. (c) Buddy Poppies: There were no receipts. (d) POW/MIA: Comrade Picha gave us some of the latest news. (e) Community Activities: CDR Oden recently returned from America where he was assisting a veteran. (f) Independence Day: The venue for the festivities will be the old embassy grounds. Comrade Hudson updated us on details of the planning. The function will be on June 30 and our Members will sell hamburgers and beer. We will not, however, cook the sandwiches as this will be done by ACSA, the embassy employee association. The names of the Thai volunteers wanting to work for 500 baht for that day should be given to Comrade Hudson so he can arrange for their admittance. We expect four people will be needed. Our ladies club will handle bingo. Comrade Hudson sold advance admittance bands for the fete. These bands may also be bought at the gate.
10. Remembrance of our National Home was at 11:40.
11. Old Business: (a) There is information on the Department Website about the Department Convention in Angeles City, Philippines. Trustee Hudson will be our Post Delegate and QM Neutzler will be the Alternate. Through the efforts of CDR Oden and Trustee Hudson, our Post will realize a small profit from the sale of ads in the Convention Book. (b) We paid our annual tribute to those interred in the cemetery on New Road and also at Christ Church on May 27. (c) There was a Memorial Day Ceremony at the embassy on May 30.
12. New Business: (a) This is the last meeting where those now holding office will perform their current duties. Comrade Picha told us of a few of the many things CDR Oden does for our Post. The CDR does not often talk of these initiatives and so his efforts go largely unrecognized. He has been a superb Commander.
13. Good of the Order: (a) Comrade Rhodes won the raffle of a baseball cap and Baht 1,000 cash. He generously donated the money back to us to establish a Student Scholarship Fund. (b) We gave 2,600 baht to Comrade Shotwell for the further education of one of his relatives.
14. CDR Oden closed the meeting at 12:15 IAW the VFW ritual.
