1.      CDR Oden ope ned a C. L. Elms Post 9951 regular meeting IAW the VFW ritual at 11:07 on 14 November, 2009 in the Conference Room of JUSMAGTHAI located at 7 South Sathorn Road in Bangkok, Thailand.

2.      There was a roll call of officers and all were present or properly excused. There were 25 members and 3 guests attending. Guests were Ken Kordonoway, Julian Camp and a member from Pattaya Post. Commander declared the post meeting as Open.

3.    There was no application for Membership to our Post.

4.      We gave copies of the minutes of the last meeting to those in attendance. Advocate Nestle made a motion to approve the minutes, subject to correction, and Trustee Hudson seconded it. The motion carried.

5.      Quartermaster Neutzler gave the QM Report for the period 1 through 31 October 2009. Trustee Hudson moved to approve the report, subject to audit. Advocate Nestle seconded and the motion carried.

6.      There were two (2) bills presented for: War Veterans Ceremony wreath Baht 500 and British Remembrance Poppy wreath Baht 200, total Baht 700 from Commander Oden. Chaplain Owens moved to pay the bills, Advocate Nestle seconded the motion, motion carried.

7.      Service Officer Harrison gave the SO Report.

8.      Comrades in distress: Commander Oden commented on his message of various members with illness. Comrade Cowperthwaite in Samitivej Hospital would like visitors; Comrade Duffy in Bangkok General does not want visitors. Comrade Fred Estes of Pattaya post 9876 passed away. Ken Bower has knee problems and Aroda Hawkins is in wheelchair but his wife is taking good care of him.

9.      Committee reports are: (a) Membership: Our goal for this year is 265. We now stand at 248 members for 93.58%. (b) Bingo: No receipts. (c) Buddy Poppies: No receipts but donation can in Jusmag Cafe. (d) POW/MIA: Comrade Picha commented on Desert Storm and current conflicts and the recovery actions. (e) Community Activities: Wreath laying at Thai-Korean Memorial in Chonburi on 22 October; Donations of $610.00 to Prostheses Foundation on 29 October 2009; Donation of $305.00 to Thai-Korean Scholarship Fund on 31 October; wreath laying at British Remembrance Day on 08 November, 2009 at British Embassy; Veterans Day ceremony at US Embassy Flagpole on 10 November 2009, Chaplain Owens offered prayers; and Thai War Veterans Organization ceremony at Sanam Luang on 11 November, 2009. (f) Safety Officer: Safety Officer Owens gave comments on crossing street, watch for motorcycles, don’t drink and drive, drive defensively at all times. (g) Independence Day: No report.

10.  Remembrance of our National Home was at 11:44.

11.  Old Business: (a) DPA mid-term C of A in Barrio Barretta, Olongapo, Subic Bay, Philippines, 5-6 December, 2009. There is planned trip to Corregidor on 07 December for those interested and wanting to stay over. (b) 2009 Christmas Party will be 12 December, 2009 at the Tara Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 26. Tickets in advance are Baht 800 per adult, children over 5 and under 12 are half price, children under 5 are free. (c) Draft Convention Book cover still under work, Comrade Harrison has a problem with his mother board, but work all backed up. (d) Comrades were reminded of the District V Quarterly meeting to be held in Udon Thani 20-21 November 2009. Pup Tent 6 of the Cooties will meet at 16:30 at the Chareon Grand Hotel 20 November, 2009 and the District meeting will commence at 09:30 on Saturday, 21 November, 2009 at the hotel. District Service Officer Holmes will be giving a 45 minute instructional class as part of the District meeting.

12.  New Business: (a) Survey of hotels to hold the 2010 DPA Convention is moving ahead, Comrade Brazee is now assisting Commander Oden in qualifying the potential hotels. A big thanks to Comrade Brazee for his assistance and for stepping forward.

13.  Good of the Order: (a) Comrade Nestle won the raffle of Baht 1,500 cash. (b) Comrade Parmelee commented on possibility of VA training available for members in the Pacific through qualified training institutions. (c) Commander Oden acknowledged receiving a letter from Phoenix Veterans Stamp and Coin Club thanking VFW Post 9951 for the varied stamps received for rehab patients.

14.  CDR Oden closed the meeting at 12:00 IAW with the VFW ritual. The next regular meeting of C.L. Elms Post 9951 will be at 11:00 on 12 December, 2009 in the JUSMAGTHAI conference room.
